OPPORTUNITIES AT GREENRIDGE
Greenridge offers many opportunities for Bible Study, Spiritual Growth, Friendship, and Service:
- Bible Study is offered every Sunday morning at 8:30 and 9:45. This study encourages class discussion and seeks to make Biblical passages relevant to every day living. Our goal is to keep our units small enough to allow people to get to know one another. Our Bible study is age graded allowing us to provide for all ages, birth through senior adults.
- Opportunities for Spiritual growth are available on Wednesday and Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM. SUgjects included growing in your spiritual faith, discovering your spiritual gifts, and the joy of prayer. Practical courses are also available on managing your money, raising children in difficult times, and strengthening your marriage. These are just a sample of the many subjects taught throughout the year.
- Friendships are easily made at Greenridge. Wednesday night features a prepared meal at a nominal cost. This is an opportune time to meet new people and develop relationships. Throughout the year we plan picnics and other fun events to encourage people to get to know one another. Three major events are our Thanksgiving Dinner, Valentine's Banquet and summer picnic. Giving people the opportunity to build friendships is important at Greenridge.
- We also encourage plenty of opportunities for service because Greenridge cares! Our people volunteer at Crisis Pregnancy Centers, homeless shelters, food banks, and local jails. The church gives 10% of its budget to missions. Additionally, we support Crisis Pregnancy Centers in Montgomery County, the Frederick County Detention Center, Germantown HELP, and several other local benevolence organizations.
MINISTRIES AT GREENRIDGE
- Our Children's Ministry includes all programs provided for children in grades K-5. We offer scouting type programs called Girls in Action and Boys Brigade as well as KPW -- Kids Praise & Worship -- during the 11:00 a.m. service Each mnistry guides our girls and boys to learn from God's Word, provides them opportunities for service, and encourages them to establish friendships as they continue to grow in the Lord.
- Greenridge is very committed to its Youth Ministry. Our comprehensive yout program is led by our Pastor to Students, along with a team of volunteers that work with him to provide for the spiritual, physical, recreational, and social needs of our youth. The program includes such events as retreats, ski trips, white water rafting, paint balling, camping trips, organized sports, and mission trips.
- Greenridge has an exciting Single Adult Ministry which is composed of two groups: College and Carrer, and Twenty-Five Plus. Our singles are from all backgrounds: night owls, morning birds, parents and non-parents, some raised in church, and some not. Small groups for Bible study and relationship building are regular happenings as well as fun outings and parties.
- Our Women's Ministry provides many opportunities for women to meet together on a regular basis in order to build relationships with one another and to further their own personal relationship with the Lord. Monthly activities cover a broad range of interest, including dining-out at a local restaurant, craft events, wokshops on today's issues and even a cruise on Black Hill Lake! There are annual events that have become a highlight of this ministry. Every fall there is a breakfast with a special feature. In the spring, either a weekend retreat or a day long conference is scheduled with an outside speaker presenting topics relevant to today's women.
- Our Men's Ministry is based on the Promise Keepers movement and is dedicated to help men become better husbands and fathers, and to help them lead their families in the way of the Lord. The basis of this ministry is to encourage each man to take a stand in the Word of God and live out the passage in the Bible which says, "...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Our men meet on Saturday mornings at the church. This time together is spent in worship, Bible study, friendship-building, prayer, encouragement, and accountability.
- Greenridge's Senior Adults Ministry is an integral part of the church. Our seniors are active in service projects, go on many day trips, and take retreats a couple of times during the year. These outings encourage spiritual growth and friendships. Meetings are warm and provide a sense of belonging and acceptance.
